YEAR 6 SATs:
When are the tests in 2024?
Monday 13th May - Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar
Tuesday 14th May - Reading
Wednesday 15th May - Maths Paper 1 (Arithmetic), Maths Paper 2 (Reasoning)
Thursday 16th May - Maths Paper 3 (Reasoning)
Tests will take place in the morning.
How will they be marked?
The tests papers will be sent away to be marked by an independent marker, with the exception of writing which will assessed by the teachers. We will find out the results in July, which will then be sent out with reports at the end of the school year.
What can I do at home to help?
Support homework.
Ensure your child knows all their times tables, number facts, units of measurements and can tell the time
Use TTRockstars to practise their times tables
Share a range of texts with your child and discuss inferences and preferences with reasons
Discuss ideas and issues with your child to develop their vocabulary and ability to structure thoughts and ideas
Encourage them to write for different purposes
Encourage your child to tackle problems independently
Use the revision guides
Attend all boosters offered
Good communication between the school and home.
Getting a good sleep on a school night!
Ensuring attendance at school from now until SATs – every day.
Ensure they eat a healthy breakfast.
Encourage them to talk to us if they are worried – explain that SATS are a way of showing what they know – they can’t fail!
